Video: Fordyce Forum Experience

We hope those of you who attended the Fordyce Forum last week had a wonderful time! For anyone who was unable to attend, below is a video for you to experience some of what went on in Vegas — we can’t show you everything because, well, you know that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas! (Just kidding… sort of.) And for everyone who was there, we hope that the video brings back some fun memories and leaves you wanting more, which of course you can find here on www.fordyceletter.com and also by planning to join us again next year!

Fun Friday: 99 Problems, Recruiter-Style

video

I have qualified for my company’s Performance Forum trip nine years out of ten that I have worked there. For the last five years, it has become tradition that I perform a LIVE rap with the band on awards night. Unfortunately, this year, I won but was unable to attend, so I did what I do best and still made sure my tradition lived on: I created a rap video. I was very fortunate to have a wonderful staff of teammates to help me act, shoot, and complete the video on time.

As I was completing the video, I thought it might also be a great way for me to differentiate myself from the competition. I am pretty certain that very few recruiters are making rap videos that their clients get to see.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Relationships, Weigh In!

“Vendor”-Client Relationships

Our goal is to move beyond ‘vendor’ status to become trusted advisors and consultants with our client companies. So – how do we get past scenarios like the ones outlined in this video?

How many of you have ever encountered situations like these? Clients essentially asking you to work for free, or wanting to ‘test out’ your services with a promise to pay next time, or even haggling your fee to an unacceptable low. Forming strategic relationships does require some negotiation, but this must happen on both sides of the table. Sustainable relationships involve both parties benefiting (known in nature as a symbiotic relationship), not just one (known in nature as a parasitic relationship).

How have you or your company gotten past these types of scenarios? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Rethinking Your Worst Clients

Some clients are written off as unbearably difficult to deal with. But in the video below, Alan Fluhrer, who specializes in energy, engineering, finance, and technology recruiting, says that sometimes there’s more to an annoying client than meets the eye.
