Force-Multiply Your Production By Leveraging Recyclability and Systems

everythings bigger in TX

We’ve got a saying in Texas — “It ain’t braggin’ if it’s true.” We are KILLING it this year, on pace for 300% growth year over year, and over 50% more than my career high from 2005. We have more business than we can possibly handle, and I just recently hired another two project people to meet the demand.

So I asked myself recently — what’s different? What am I doing this year that’s kicking it into high gear and taking my search practice to the NEXT LEVEL?

How To Quickly Search for Candidates on Google+

Over on SourceCon.com, I’ve written a little dissertation on my journey through the nooks and crannies of Google+. I’m not going to bore all of you with a recount of what I found and my personal opinions on Google’s latest foray into the social networking world — I know none of you have time to read it.

What I do want to do, however, is show you a very easy way to search for prospects on Google+. My hope is that by the end of this article, even the most skeptical recruiter will see the value in using this new resource to unearth potential placements.

Impossible Search? Or Are You Skipping a Strategic Step?

MI

We’ve all recruited for tough-to-fill openings, hard-to-please hiring managers, less-than-competitive salaries, and even not-so-favorable company press. But what if you’re recruiting and you simply can’t find qualified talent? The list of must-haves is long, you’ve searched your ATS and external resume databases, posted your jobs on the most compelling sites, and utilized all of the latest social networking tools, but the quality of the candidate pipeline is still lacking.

A Holistic Approach to Search

How phone research and Internet sourcing work together

Every now and then, a debate flares up in our business…or should I say, the embers smolder continuously. For example: What type is the best candidate: Active or Passive? What sourcing method is best: Phone versus Internet? So what’s the hoopla all about? Why the passionate arguments? In the squabble of one-upmanship we are forgetting the end destination. The goal is clear – get the best candidate for the position. Period. End of story. Yeah we all agree, nodding our wise heads. So if we agree on the final answer, let’s also agree to get there in the best possible way.

I am all about a balanced approach, a joint effort, a let’s-pull-out-all-the-stops tactic to “finding/looking for” (research & Internet sourcing) and “placing” (recruiting & candidate development) a candidate in their new, awesome opportunity.

Identifying Talent with Shally

When Google became a verb, it definitely crossed that invisible threshold into gold standard for most people searching for everything from news to candidates to sports to old flames.

But Google isn’t the be-all, end-all, turns out. And if it’s the only search engine you’re using, your method needs some updating, according to Shally Steckerl.

So step out of Google’s “library” and look around! “You need to use more than one search engine,” he says.

If you don’t get the answer the first time around, try another source, he recommends.

But if Shally can do it in “10 minutes or less,” you can too, and you’ll be back on the phone in no time. But first, check out this video to learn why Shally calls search engines “misleading” and ways to experiment with more search engine flavors.
