Executive Bonuses Shrink

The latest ExecuNet survey of 113 senior executives shows that 61% are anticipating a year-end bonus in 2008. This bonus, which can be close to one-fifth of their total annual compensation, is expected to be 10% smaller than those received in 2007. And in the greed-before-family category, 75% of corporate executives would rather receive a year-end bonus than more time-off from work.

Of course, this is for companies still handing out bonuses. Wonder what the executives at Toyota, which just announced it is suspending executive bonuses, would think. They are not getting any bonus this year, and they probably would not be quite as bothered by a 10%-leaner bonus.
