Hi Donald - I think you hit on the core of where a lot of companies need to go with their recruiting efforts. And Jason's got a great example of a recruiting network on Ning, and Dennis' blog is a great example of leveraging blogging for a recruiting business as well.

We're trying to help SMEs with many of these issues by offering a simple, inclusive package - you can blog, post video, leverage social media principles & tools - in a recruiting-centric way. I think we'll see more tools like this in the future, that let companies package these things more simply, so companies don't have to setup a blog, figure out YouTube, and so forth...using a variety of disparate services which can be more time consuming and confusing.

Excellent article, Donald! You provide a lot of compelling reasons why recruiters who are not utilizing social media, should reconsider.

I've been blogging for almost 4 years, and there's certainly more folks on that bandwagon today, versus 4 years ago. But I'm still surprised that more recruiters are hesitating. I believe it will be commonplace in a few years (maybe sooner) for recruiters to have their toolkits filled with social media tools.

While many are waiting to determine the ROI, others are benefiting.

Nice post!
